March 2016 Poll: Dems, GOP Split on U.S. Outlook
March 22, 2016
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Our March 2016 poll, which looked separately at likely Republican and Democratic primary voters, found wide divergence on some key views. One key attitude, which we regularly track, is whether the nation is on the right track or is headed in the wrong direction.
Republicans were pessimistic when asked:
Do you feel things in the United States are generally heading in the right direction, or have things gotten off on the wrong track?
1/16 3/7
9% 8% Right Direction
88% 89% Wrong Track
3% 3% Don’t Know/Unsure (DO NOT READ)
— — Refused (DO NOT READ)
There was a different result from our poll of Democrats when we asked them the same question.
Do you feel things in the United States are generally heading in the right direction, or have things gotten off on the wrong track?
1/16 3/7
49% 41% Right Direction
41% 49% Wrong Track
9% 9% Don’t Know/Unsure (DO NOT READ)
— — Refused (DO NOT READ)
Similar splits are shown on some other key issues — with one revealing exception. Keep an eye on Polling Spotlight for more soon.
