Evidently, not Betsy Meads. Meads is from Pasquotank County and stopped by the local board of elections office to attend the NC NAACP news conference yesterday morning. William Barber was there to denounce the local board’s ruling on the candidacy of a Elizabeth City State University student – Montravias King. The board ruled that Mr. King had not proven that he was a resident of Pasquotank County and thus not qualified to be a candidate in the municpal election.
Ms. Meads wanted to ask Barber a question and let him know that for the first time in Pasquotank County’s history a Elizabeth City State student was appointed as chief judge in a precinct. Barber would not recognize her. But, that didn’t stop Meads.
