On Wednesday, Republicans will attempt to override Governor Perdue’s veto rejecting the Protect Health Care Freedom Act (H2), which would challenge the individual mandate provision of ObamaCare.
Governor Perdue vetoed the bill over the weekend stating it violated the U.S. Constitution. The veto came somewhat of a surprise as she had said in the past that she would not veto the bill. However, the Governor seemed to change her tune after speaking with President Obama and other U.S. Democratic leaders.
A three-fifths majority vote is need in both the House and Senate to override the veto. House Republicans may need a few Democrats to join them in order to meet the minimum requirement. If the override succeeds, the bill will become law.
