On the Thursday “What Matters in North Carolina” program, host Mark Shiver spoke with Brian Balfour, executive vice-president of the Civitas Institute, to discuss the proposed Wake County sales tax increase on the Nov. 8 ballots, which will go to fund a mass transit plan. Among the things they talked about were the additional costs associated with the plan long-term — and thus the possible added tax increases; the lack of demand for transit expansion in Wake County; and the raising of vehicle registration fees to pay for the service.
Also on the show, Mark interviewed the Rev. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League. They discussed the tension people of faith are facing when they look at Hillary Clinton’s policy agenda, most notably her stance on abortion including partial-birth abortion, and compare that to some of Donald Trump’s words and behavior.
