- Lack of Transparency
The current administration is now trying to cover up a scandal that started a little while back. Even though we were promised an open government by the current president, this is one deal they have apparently backed out of. We were told the administration would never give us up or let us down, but they have failed. There are many questions still left unanswered and we are learning new, shocking information daily.
- Confirms Liberal Bias
Liberal bias is possibly rampant, even in non-partisan branches of the government. Conservatives have been complaining about such treatment for a while, but have never had the proof. There is now solid evidence that the government (specifically the IRS) is targeting a particular group because of their political (as well as moral) beliefs.
- Threat to Democracy
Silencing dissenters is a cliche amongst dictators of abusive, iron-fist regimes. While Obama may have no hand in this, there is something so atrocious about the government targeting and singling out a particular group or political faction. It makes people scared of their government; a tenant which no free people should live by in a democratic nation. People should be free to express their political opinions without any stifling from those running political (and supposedly unbiased) government services and establishments.
Freedom-loving people, whether conservative or liberal, should be nauseated upon hearing certain political groups are being targeted and silenced by their government. Simply a modern, American travesty.
