North Carolina is one of seven states to have the necessary 25,000 signatures to submit a petition to secede and become a sovereign independent government. The petition is available at the White House web site. It shows 26,508 North Carolina citizens have signed the petition. The other states to raise enough signatures are Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas. The White House claims it will review petitions with enough signatures. People in the rest of the 50 states are trying to gather signatures as well. An article by the Daily Caller blog notes there are also movements by liberal groups to seek retribution on those who sign the petitions by having them deported.
