Is this a sign of things to come?
The Head of Student Affairs for Winston-Salem State University (a State supported university) emailed over 6,000 students and staff urging them to vote for Democratic candidates.
The excuse offered by the institution, “human error.” Michelle Releford, the interim vice chancellor for student affairs sent out the email “as a favor for a student.” Even though the email included a Democratic Party Candidate list, Ms. Releford says she sent the email without looking at it…
In light of the actions of the State Board of Elections this past year, I have no doubt that the County Board of Elections will gloss over this infraction in short order. They have a special meeting scheduled on Friday at 1 pm to discuss the one-stop site located on the WSSU campus.
If you haven’t attended an Elections Board meeting you really should – the meetings are shamelessly partisan (the board is made up of 2 Democrats and 1 Republican), and for that reason I wouldn’t put too much money in the parking meter.
The most they will probably do is give WSSU a meaningless, inconsequential warning – once again making a mockery of North Carolina’s election laws and system.
The meeting is Friday at 1 pm. Contact the Forsyth Board of Elections for further information.
