GOP Senators Harry Brown and David Rouzer want to take a close look at rules that are written covering laws passed by the General Assembly and those written by state agencies. They want to establish a Joint Regulatory Reform Committee. The panel would take input from the public and businesses on rules that are unnecessary or unduly burdensome and stand in the way job creation. It would report to the General Assembly in May of 2012. The Senate Rules Committee passed it.
Senator Brown has also introduced a bill to prohibit a state agency from creating a rule that would add cost to anyone covered by the rule.
