State Representative Mike Hager (R-Rutherford) had just returned from a trip to Pennsylvania for a tour of the exploration for natural gas with hydraulic fracturing of shale called “fracking.” He told a legislative committee he was pleased by what he saw and how the company was handling environmental impact. But most of all Hager said he was impressed by the amount of jobs the new drilling had created.
There’s a good chance “fracking” will soon be coming to North Carolina. There is evidence there are big fields of shale containing natural gas in Lee, Moore and Chatham Counties. One company, Whitmar Exploration, is already talking to property owners in Lee County about leasing rights. An outside review of state regulations on “fracking” is also being conducted and a report should be ready in a couple of months.

Profits for a huge corporation
They pollute our state and the taxpayers pick up the tab… another fine Conservative attempt to kill the middle class… as a disclosure my family has land in Arkansas where natural gas is bigtime and on a 1000acres my family has made very little real money but our neighbors now hate us…
