What are we to think when we find a link leading to a far-left fringe group’s web page on the State Board of Election’s (SBOE) website. The link leads directly from the SBOE site to Democracy NC’s tirade against Art Pope. Art Pope is the CEO of Variety Wholesale and Chairman of the John William Pope Foundation. He is a contributor to Civitas and other conservative organizations and sits on the board of directors of the Civitas Institute as well as a number of other boards and commissions.
Democracy NC, along with several other ultra-liberal groups, has recently launched vicious personal attacks in an attempt to demonize Pope and his conservative ideas. For the past few years, Democracy NC has become more radical in their beliefs and in their tactics as they became a more powerful component of the liberal-left’s machine in the state legislature. Maybe it was the Republican victory in 2010 that revealed their relationship with the State Board of Elections. But, in retrospect we can see that some of the most radical changes to North Carolina’s election law in the last 10 years is due to the close association between the two groups.
More recently we observed Democracy NC’s association with the State Board of Elections during the bitter voter ID debates in the Legislature last year. Whenever the State Board testified against voter ID, Democracy NC was close at hand to advance the talking points. It almost seems that Democracy NC is the State Board of Elections own advocacy group.
To reach the page via the State Board’s site just Click on this link and when you reach the State Board of “Election Resource Center” page click on the Resources and Programs link in the column of tabs on the right side of the page and then click on Advocacy to find a list of “Election Related” groups.

I think it is pretty funny!! You fail to mention that the Libertarian parties and Republican parties are linked as well- Hey Pope bought himself some politicians did he really think noone would notice?
Neal Inman says
All of the major parties are listed-that isn’t the issue. The problem is that the SBOE links to two left-leaning groups with highly partisan agendas, yet links to no right-leaning non-profits. State websites should ideally not link to politically involved non-profits at all, but if they do they need to be balanced.

Thank you Ms. Myrick! This information is another example of the 140 year reign of the Democrat Party control of N C State Government. It also includes keeping the major minority party on the “democrat” plantation!
