A new state audit report reveals that over a six year period more than $1 million in funding was diverted from the Historically Minority Colleges and University Consortium (HMCUC) and improperly used by the organization’s executive director.
In 2009, Nan Coleman, the former executive director of HMCUC was fired from her position for poor performance. An internal audit of HMCUC conducting by Chancellor Charlie Nelms shows Coleman wrote nearly $60,000 in checks payable to herself; used $62,000 in HMCUC funds to a pay personal bills and also recorded $47,000 in ATM withdrawals
The audit report indicates that Coleman had sole control over HMCUC bank accounts. It also recommends that NCCU seek criminal or civil actions to seek repayment of the money.

Shameful. Why 6 years for an audit?

Now it’s the NCCU Chancellor Charlie Nelms misusing his state-issued credit card!
