Incumbent Democratic Senator John Snow’s race for re-election starts off as a dead heat with Republican county commissioner Jim Davis receiving 44 percent of the vote to Snow’s 43 percent. Among the most likely 2010 voters, Davis’ lead grows to four points, 47%-43%.
Snow is fairly well known in the district with 34% of voters having a favorable opinion and 21% with an unfavorable opinion.
Davis, however, is a virtual unknown with an 11% favorable opinion from voters, 8% unfavorable.
One interesting aside from the SD 50 numbers is we also ask a Congressional ballot question between Rep. Heath Shuler (D) and his opponent Republican Jeff Miller. And in the portion of CD-11 that is comprised by SD 50, Miller leads Shuler by four points 46%-42%.
