Yesterday the left-leaning NC Justice Center published a report titled: North Carolina’s Public School Funding System: Underfunded, Unclear and Unfair. You needn’t read past the title to get the message.
The crusade for unabashed liberalism continues; same old template, same old solutions.
One the plus side, there was one thing we could agree on: it’s too hard to track expenditures and actually determine how much a school district — or a school for that matter — is spending. That is true. And. I second the call for greater transparency.
The report supports revising many of the funding formulas that drive state money to school districts. No news there. Policymakers have been calling for revisions for years and a committee to do just that has been meeting for the past two years.
I guess there aren’t any savings to be found in a “bare boned” $9 billion public education system with 183,000 employees.
