The North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association this morning sent out an action alert to its members. The alert informs members that there will likely be a decision made on the fate of North Carolina’s renewable energy tax credit today or tomorrow and urges them to call their state representative, emphasizing “Please prioritize calling Representatives and Senators on this list that you have had previous meetings with, know personally, or if you live, work or have built a project in their district.”
The group also provides a script to follow:
Here’s a sample script you can use (please be sure to make it your own):
“I’m calling to ask Speaker/Representative/Senator_______________ to include NC’s Renewable Energy Investment Tax Credit in the final budget. This program has been critical to creating thousands of jobs* across the state, including mine and especially in rural areas. It is vitally important to my family/business. Thank you.”
*You may also want to include the location and number of people your company employs
If renewable energy is such a strong economic engine and more cost effective that tradition energy sources as supporters claim, why the urgent call to renew their favored political status? Why are they directing so much of their resources lobbying legislators rather than creating value for customers?
Does this urgent call to action indicate we may be seeing the end of the renewable energy tax credit?
