Today's Fayetteville Observer published my article summarizing some options state lawmakers may consider as they desperately search for ways to create jobs in NC. A sample:
In order to stimulate small-business job growth — the engine behind the
majority of new jobs — North Carolina should create a special top marginal tax
rate on pass-through businesses of 5 percent. The new rate would make the state
regionally competitive and encourage more small business creation and growth,
providing a major jump-start to new job creation.
Most voters recognize the importance of small businesses to job creation. A
recent statewide survey revealed that an overwhelming 85 percent of voters would
approve of a 10 percent tax cut for all small businesses.
For a more lengthy discussion of these options, see this article.
