In the poll we conducted last week, we asked if voters approved of the bailout bill and whether it would impact their vote in Congressional races this year.
Coincidentally, I was recently a guest on WRAL’s Headline Saturday discussing much of the same. Watch it here.
Back to the results:
Do you support or oppose the $700 billion bailout to help the United States financial system?
Strongly Support – 13%
Somewhat Support – 29%
Somewhat Oppose – 19%
Strongly Oppose – 25%
Not Sure – 15%
Total Support – 32%
Total Oppose – 34%
Would you be more or less likely to vote for a Member of Congress who voted to support the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street?
Much More – 12%
Somewhat More – 18%
Somewhat Less – 13%
Much Less – 15%
No Difference – 30%
Not Sure – 13%
Total More – 30%
Total Less – 28%
No Difference 30%
What does all that mean? Well, folks are still pretty evenly split and pretty confused about the shape of the economy.
Perhaps the bigger number came in our standard question of "Do you think NC is generally on the right track or headed off in the wrong direction?"
When we polled in mid-September it was Right Track 35%, Wrong Direction 48%.
In this poll, two weeks later, it was Right Track 27%, Wrong Direction 58%.
