Robert Earnhardt runs a sweepstakes parlor in the town of Franklinville, according to the Asheboro Courier-Tribune. The paper reports he asked the town board this week to reduce the taxes imposed on his business. Those privilege levies could bring in thousands of dollars of revenue for the town.
The General Assembly approved a ban on parlors such as Earnhardt’s but, according to the Courier-Tribune, he told the board the ban would be delayed by a legal challenge. At least, he said he hoped there would be a challenge.
Board members were worried about having to rework their budget if the ban does go into effect.
