Occupy Raleigh packed up most of their camp near Edenton Street in Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday. The camp had been used by the movement since November. According to one occupier interviewed by the News and Observer, “We’re going to clean this up and make it nice, plant some grass.” As of today, significant trash and debris remained at the camp, along with several abandoned tents. It is likely that much of the remaining trash will have to be picked up by the City of Raleigh at taxpayer expense.

Mr. Riemer,
Why do you choose to post such negative things without ever checking your facts? Did it even cross your mind to talk to the landowner? We did not abandon our camp and we had always planned to clean it up since the day we decided as a group to close it. Had you taken the time to check the Occupy Raleigh Calendar you would have known our schedule.Contrary to popular belief we do have jobs so the clean up had to be done on the weekends. It has been cleaned up and the beautification has been done and NOT one dime came from the city or taxpayers. I would very much appreciate an apology but since I am sure that will not happen you could be a responsible journalist and update your information with facts not fiction. Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter.
