According to the Washington Post, health insurance plans under Obamacare may require that all forms of birth control and sterilization procedures be “free” (without deductibles or co-payments) for women.
This measure would include controversial methods of emergency birth control such as “Plan B” or the “morning-after pill” which can be taken up to three-days after unprotected sex and the “Ella” drug which can be taken up to five days after unprotected sex. Both drugs prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb but if the egg has already implanted in the womb, it will likely cause an abortion. They are made from the same family as the abortion drug RU-486.
But even if the birth control offered were not controversial, the concept of “free” medication is misleading and unfounded. It will only mean that drug companies will be “free” to charge sky-high prices for their products and customers will face even higher insurance premiums.
The Obama administration once again fails to recognize the fact that declaring services to be “free” simply means that taxpayers will be footing the bill for these expensive projects that could contribute to the growing disrespect for human life.
