WRAL reports on a Mt. Olive family that has wasted so much time unsuccessfully trying to sign up for health insurance on the government exchange website that they are considering continuing to go without insurance. How did left-wing Blueprint NC leader and WRAL owner Jim Goodman let this story on the air?
A Mount Olive family is so fed up with trying to obtain health insurance through the government’s Affordable Care Act website that they are considering paying the penalty to go without insurance next year.
…
Wendy and Eddie Davidson and their 17-year-old son have been without insurance for seven years. The couple own a yard equipment repair shop, and they felt insurance was too expensive.
They were eager to shop for coverage through the online health exchange, but that quickly faded as frustration mounted over the enrollment process.
“They make it out like it’s so easy and you can shop for all these insurances, and we’ve just not found that’s the case at all,” Wendy Davidson said Tuesday.
As an aside, perhaps its better they couldn’t gain access to the site, because if they felt health insurance was too expensive before, they would have been confronted with major sticker shock from the rates now offered under Obamacare. Civitas continues to receive and document Obamacare horror stories, now at a new website: http://icouldntkeepmyplan.com/
Moreover, if people have to waste this much time just trying to sign up for insurance under Obamacare, how long do you think they will have to wait to actually see a doctor?
The Davidsons may join a growing number of people opting to go without insurance and instead pay the penalty, which was determined to be a “tax” by the Supreme Court last year. But the healthcare.gov site doesn’t refer to it as a tax, but rather as a “fee.” And to take the labels to Orwellian heights, the website is now referring to the fee/penalty/tax as “the individual shared responsibility payment.”

the problems with the website of Obamacare are just the beginning…
Imagine the waiting periods to see a doctor, and doctors waiting to be paid after squaring away the bureaucratic and informatic nightmare! Unfortunately, this nightmare does not go away the next morning…

Did the family go all the way and submit the application that would then adjust the estimate to reflect credits the family was entitled to? Or did they just get the estimate? (this is the disclaimer from the website: IMPORTANT NOTE: The prices shown on this tool don’t reflect the lower costs you may qualify for based on household size and income.)
If the people just did the estimate and didn’t fill out the application then WRAL was just continuing spreading bad information perpetuating the propaganda that has been spread by a political party that by all accounts is the most dysfunctional entity in the U.S. today.
Please clarify at which point the family reports they had high rates. People also need to remember as with anything new and basically untested bugs have to be worked out.

Lois: Your argument is specious. The website is like all of Obamacare – it won’t work and the premium “credit” is not the point. Obamacare offers a choice of only four high-priced insurance policies, with extensive coverage that many people don’t need or want. It’s only made affordable to many by granting large government subsidies – not “credits” – which are paid for by charging higher premiums to others. You’re smart enough to know that Obamacare is deeply flawed and will implode on its own – no “propaganda” necessary.
