A new Civitas Poll showed that House Speaker Thom Tillis rebounded when matched head-to-head against Sen. Kay Hagan in their race for the U.S. Senate.
Adam Geller of National Research conducts our regular polls. He spoke at our recent Poll Lunch, analyzed the findings and explained why he gives the edge right now to Republican Tillis.
Our next poll — of unaffiliated voters — will be Aug. 28.

Interesting, and kinda disappointing, if I’m being honest.
I’m voting for Haugh, the Libertarian candidate… but it’s mostly regardless of his actual personal agenda or positions. A lot of that is just that the two main parties have not given me a candidate to vote “for”. There is no way I’d vote for the GOP establishment guy (Tillis)… it’s pretty much the same as voting for Hagan (also a solid “no”)… neither would further the principles I care about around smaller, more limited government.
I find it interesting that Mr. Geller sees the “energy” being on Tillis’s side. His unfavorables, if I remember, are usually pretty high. I’m just a single person, sitting in my own circle of course, but I honestly dont hear that much “energy” around Tillis. I’d also guess there’s some number of people like me, who are libertarian/TP leaning who are either indifferent or outright opposed to Tillis. His main selling point seems to be that he has an “R” and not a “D” next to his name. *shrug* Sometimes that “is” enough though.
If Tillis is elected, right now I’d guess it’s more an anti-Hagan/anti-Obama vote overcoming the anti-Tillis vote.
Anyway… it does indeed look very close. Guess we’ll see soon enough. :)
