Here’s the N&O’s story on the Goodyear/Firestone bill from yesterday. See if you notice anything when you read it…

Ok, did you see anything in there talking specifically about the giveaway of taxpayer dollars to multibillion dollar corporations? Did you see anything mentioned about corporate welfare and the distortions to the free market that took place? Anything on the argument that this is a dangerous precedent that sends a signal to all other North Carolina companies that if you feign cutting jobs, the government will cut you a check?
It seems that, according to the N&O, the only objections to the bill were that Bridgestone had already committed to stay and the speed in which the bill was passed. Well that sure seems like enough to get 44 House and 16 Senate members to vote against it. There couldn’t be any other reasons could there?
I know reporters have a tough job to do summarizing a complicated bill and issue into a small number of words, but geez, throw a dog a bone. At least mention some of the major objections of the people who voted against it and not just two of the minor ones.
