New absentee voting numbers reveal that 501 ballots have been returned and processed by the county boards of elections for the May 8 Primary Election. Pitt County continues to lead the way with 120, followed by Mecklenburg with 53 and Guilford with 42 returned ballots. Statewide, Democrats have returned 246 ballots, Republicans 158, unaffiliated voters 94 and Libertarians have returned 3 ballots.
Of the 94 unaffiliated voters whose ballots have been returned thus far, 46 requested Republican ballots, 26 requested non-partisan ballots and 22 unaffiliated voters requested Democratic ballots.
