I hate to be ugly about this, BUT…
If ALE does not have anything better to do than this, why don’t we disband the agency?
And, yes, I know that ALE has many good agents, who are highly skilled and trained. I do not think that we ought to fire them. But isn’t there something more important that we could have them doing than being the recycling police?
And what legislative genius made this a Class 1 Misdemeanor? This is on the same level as misdemeanor breaking or entering, and many of our larceny statutes. Are we REALLY sure that not having an approve recycling plan is as bad as stealing or breaking into someone else’s building?
Perhaps the criminalization of the “crime” of failing to recycle was not too well thought out.
