I have been meaning to post this. The following email was forwarded by a concerned state employee and appears to show a state employee using state resources to promote a partisan political event.

Subject: Event Honoring Rep. Lucy Allen
On Thursday, April 22, 2010, the Franklin County Democratic Party is hosting its Annual Banquet. In place of the usual keynote speaker the Franklin County Democratic Party is going to offer a “Tribute to Lucy Allen”. Everyone is invited to come and celebrate the wonderful work Rep. Allen has done, not just for her constituents but, for all the people of North Carolina.
The event will be at 6:30 in the Louisburg College Multipurpose Room. Tickets are $25.00 and must be reserved in advance. The deadline to reserve tickets is 5:00 pm Thursday April 15th. Call (919) 494-7140 for ticket information. Anyone who can not attend but would like to send a note or letter for the scrapbook can mail it to Jenny Edwards – 803 East Mason Street – Franklinton, NC 27525.

And to add to the Irony Senator Burger is a member of a “Judiciary Committee”. Remember the rule for politicians is to do as I tell you to do – not as I do. That would appear to be what Sen. Don Davis was Practicing earlier this month.
I am sure Rep. Lucy Allen is deserving of recognition as she heads for a 6 figure job on the NC Utilities Commission – but promoting a partisan political event with taxpayer resources should not be part of that recognition.
