Rachel Maddow had a recent hit piece on voting reform in North Carolina. Here’s a good piece ripping apart her pretensions.
We may have further responses later. I just wanted to say that one disturbing fact is that it’s obvious Maddow had no intention of providing a fair, accurate account of what happened. To take just one small but telling detail, she makes it sound ominous that our own Susan Myrick was there “as a silent observer.” In short, saying nothing is bad; obviously anything Susan said would also have been framed in the most negative terms. It was a case of “heads I win, tails you lose.”
Or consider how Maddow posed another ominous question: why was Susan Myrick at the meeting? Again, Maddow made it sound ominous. Yet plainly there is reason for Civitas’ election analyst to be concerned with the county. Do a Google search for “Myrick” and “Pasquotank.” Two of the top three hits show that Susan has been investigating voting shenanigans there for many months. Here’s a key post.
The show’s many half-truths, quarter truths, misrepresentations, falsehoods, idiocies and outright lies are too numerous to catalog fully today.
Finally, let me repeat, in case I haven’t been plain: Maddow and, sadly, many other liberals in and out of the media, have no intention of providing a fair picture of the debate.
They may not even be capable of doing so. They may have been so mired in left-wing thought for so many years, and so enamored of their own intellects, that they are not capable of producing a balanced view of this, or any other, subject.
