Governor Perdue has proposed increasing the tax on liquor with a 5% surcharge to provide more tax dollars for state government.
At the same time she wants new alcohol taxes she proposes to eliminate state funding for the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies.
We get more money if people drink the same amount and we get even more if they drink more. Let me see, how do we get more people to drink more?
For the irony impaired I am not suggesting that Bev wants there to be more alcoholics but the desire to maintain spending at high levels can cause strange things to happen.
