Former NC Governor Jim Hunt pens this endorsement for Pres. Obama in today’s N&O. The article is chock full of typicall politcial bloviating – a lot of words with little substance (Obama cares, invest in the future, etc.)
But this sentence near the end caught my attention. Hunt declares:
In short, Obama’s blueprint for our economy is the same blueprint that has transformed North Carolina into what it is today
Given North Carolina continues to struggle with the fifth highest unemployment rate in the nation, has been falling further behind the national average in per capita income in the last decade, and are among the top of the list for percentage of jobs lost during the recession; is that supposed to be an endorsement or a warning?
Thank you!!!! I read the article before I read this one and it was absolutely disgusting and appaling!! Obama is a sorry excuse for a president and a human being in my opinion. The real issue, however, and what has really hurt us and will only continue to is the “free money” and those with their hands out! IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT’S RESPONSIBILTY TO TAKE CARE OF YOU AND YOURS!!!! Why is that so hard to understand!? We as a country have lost our values and sold our souls to the devil or in this case Nobama! Grow up America! We need personal accountability and responsibilty! We have got to turn around or we are not going to have the country we were born into! May God help us all!!
People aren’t asking for help because they have no personal responsibility. People are asking for help because they need it. We’ve replaced low-end labor with automation and shipped jobs overseas without a plan for how we’re going to have full employment in this country. There are people that are 45 and 50 who have been doing a job their whole life that find themselves unemployed and unqualified to do anything else. Sure, there are some people getting a free ride and I think we need to take a serious look at how we execute welfare in this country, but we need to stop making it an us versus them game. Feeling contempt for your fellow man won’t solve the problem. And, to be quite frank, the more contempt you feel and the more we make this about the well-off versus the poor, the less guilty the poor people will feel about taking your money and getting a free ride via tax money.
Rural North Carolina has been hit hard in the Obama recession. It will not recover under the Socialist policies of Obama. Hunt could not find a new tax increase he did not love. bama is not a leader!
