Last Friday, a news release published by the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina stated that while industries such as construction, manufacturing, and other services accounted for 40,000 jobs lost in the last month, government grew by 200 jobs.
Over the last year, 210,000 non-farm industry workers have been left unemployed, while government has increased their workforce by 19,800.
Why is government continuing to grow as revenue is dropping?
By the way, we have doubled our unemployment rate from last year from 5. 4 to 10.8.
Brenda Fisher says
Commenting on the article above regarding government job increases: My only guess would be that perhaps with more government postions many of our programs can be implemented and followed through with. Perhaps there were not enough “helpers” in the past. ?
