Yesterday’s WRAL editorial critiqued the legislative session, predictably lambasting Republicans.
One section of their rant chastised some Republicans for not wearing masks in the legislative building. But changing just a few words underscores their rank hypocrisy. Imagine them instead writing:
RepublicansProtesters who refuse to wear masksin the Legislative Buildingand social distance while crowded together tightly in city streets are acting like children. Their actions and the dangerous example they set, is helping, not slowing, the spread of COVID-19. They jeopardize our state and nation’s recovery from the ravages of the coronavirus. They need to grow up.
Which presents a greater threat to public health? A few legislators at the legislature maintaining distance from others while not wearing a mask, or thousands of people crowded together for hours every night for several straight days, ignoring ‘social distancing’ guidelines and many not wearing masks?
Apparently the “science and data” crowd at WRAL believe the virus is aware of the political leanings of who it chooses to infect.
