House Republicans have failed in their attempt to override Governor Perdue’s veto of HB2. The vote was 68-51. It fell four votes short. House Speaker Tillis says a vote to override the veto of SB13 is delayed becuase of consultations with the Governor and Democratic leaders. That bill lists several funds from which money could transferred into the General Fund. Republicans said the Governor’s use of Employment Security Commission funds to pay tax refunds was illegal. So they say SB13 is an alternative source of funds. The State Controller, David McCoy says he won’t use any of those funds until the issue is resolved.
