In anticipation of Hurricane Florence’s landfall, the eastern half of our state is beginning to brace for a direct hit by what appears to be an incredibly destructive storm. Individuals and families are hurriedly making preparations. While many farther inland are stocking up on water, fuel, and canned goods, those along the coastline are beginning to evacuate.
As a fellow North Carolinian that believes strongly in the importance of private philanthropy and prioritizes the role of civil society, we knew you would be interested in learning which state-based organizations are designed to help families most likely to be impacted by Hurricane Florence.
Here is a list of those organizations (but not exhaustive, by any means) that we believe will wisely manage the donations you make, faithfully meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those in greatest need:
Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC
The Salvation Army of Cape Fear
If you’ve lived in North Carolina for any amount of time, I’m sure you’ve heard, or perhaps even experienced, the devastation wreaked by Hurricanes Matthew, Irene, Fran, and more. As a result, we know you have unique compassion for those in the path of Florence. And because of that, I want to thank you in advance for your generosity to your fellow North Carolinians in need.
And if you are someone that is directly impacted by Hurricane Florence, we are praying for your safety as you weather this storm.
