In this AP/WRAL article detailing Big Labor's gains in North Carolina and its intent to flex its muscle this legislative session comes a glimmer of good news in keeping collective bargaining for state employees off the table.
Senate Leader Marc Basnight (D-Dare), when asked about the prospects of repealing the ban on collective bargaining replied:
Kudos to Basnight for recognizing the damage repealing the ban would do to the taxpayers of North Carolina. But one question, if it's not "healthy or beneficial" now, how would it ever be in the future?
UKNOWME says
WOW! I wonder what Basnight’s best friend Dana Cope (Mr. I’ll do what 50% +1 wants me to) is going to think about this…SEIU has sunk a lot of money into SEANC and the campaign coffers of friendly legislators to help get them elected.
Cope better find a way (which he usally does whether the truth or not) to pacify all those union fed, let’s go on another union paid trip, SEANC officers and district chairs after they graciously fell in line for affilation with SEIU.
Kudos to you Chris, the repeal of collective bargaining will never be healthy for ANY employee or taxpayer in North Carolina.
