One of our friends in Fayetteville had a question about a TV ad he saw for attorney general candidate Josh Stein: Does the political ad feature on-duty officers?
It sure looks like the two men in the ad are wearing Cumberland County Sheriff’s uniforms.
The Cumberland Country Sheriff is Earl “Moose” Butler. He is a registered Democrat, like Stein.
Here’s an image of the insignia for the Cumberland Country Sheriff’s uniform:
It looks a lot like the insignia on the uniforms of the men in the ad.
In any case, wherever they are from, are those genuine officers of the law? And are they on-duty filming a partisan political commercial? Did they drive to the shooting of the commercial in a sheriff’s vehicle?
If they are off-duty, why are they wearing their uniforms?
Did any of their supervisors know of this or approve of it?
There are other questions. It would be good to get answers. After all, taxpayers must be sure their money is being spent properly and wisely.

Is this not a violation of the Hatch Act if they were on duty?
