If you ask the average person about private schools, most will say they are expensive and cost more to attend than traditional public schools.
That’s what we’re told and that’s what many of us believe.
Well it might not be so.
Yahoo Finance is reporting that in 34 states the cost to attend a private school is actually lower than the average amount spent per student on K-12 public education. One of those 34 states is North Carolina.
According to the article, the average K-12 public school spent $11,392 per student in 2017. The average private school tuition in the United States in 2017, was $10,413. According to Yahoo Finance, in 2017 the average private school tuition in North Carolina was $9,133. The average per student expenditures for North Carolina public schools in the same year was $9,172.
Such findings put school choice in a different light – as they should.
Things aren’t always as they appear.
