Nathan Tabor, chairman of the Forsyth County Republican party and also a new media/grassroots trainer at the NC Tea Party Summits, was assaulted as he and a group of local citizens protested the Durbin BP bailout earlier this week.
Video of the incident is below (warning: some graphic language)
Tabor has now pressed charges against the assailant who has responded by also filing charges in the case. Joe Guarino poses some good questions at his blog about whether or not Nathan can get a fair trial in Greensboro at this point. He points out that the assailant’s attorney, Joe Williams, played a key role in getting DA Doug Henderson elected through his involvement with the Simkins PAC.
It remains to be seen how this will play out in a courtroom; however the right to free speech and assembly must be upheld for all.
