The new issue of Civitas Review magazine is online for our members. Part of our mission is to show how conservative principles can supply effective solutions to today’s challenges. The cover story does just that: It highlights how a church, parents, students and educators help students reach their full potential at Upper Room Christian Academy.
In a similar vein, the magazine also shows how Ron Margiotta and his allies on the Wake County School Board had successes that improved the education and well-being of students in the system. Unfortunately, controversies obscured how much the Margiotta-led board actually accomplished.
In another article, Raleigh attorney Robert Numbers explains why attempts to “reform” the selection of judges might strip NC voters of that vital right. Also, in an excerpt from the most recent book by Arthur C. Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, the noted economist explains why free enterprise is a moral imperative.
And there’s more about the issues facing North Carolina today. We hope you enjoy it. We’re working now on a fall edition that will highlight the key issues in the fall elections.
