HB 168/SB 210-“Choose Life” Special Plate is the only pro-life legislation to make it to the 2010 legislative session. Introduced first in 2000, the bill allows North Carolina drivers to purchase a “Choose Life” specialty plate similar to “Breast Cancer Awareness,” “Carolina Panthers” and “Ducks Unlimited.” Proceeds from the plate will go to Carolina Pregnancy Care Fellowship (CPCF) in the amount of $15 to be distributed “annually to nongovernmental, not-for-profit agencies that provide pregnancy services that are limited to counseling and/or meeting the physical needs of pregnant women” reports North Carolina Family Policy Center.
Considering the 2009 General Assembly did not consider the specialty plate bill this past session, CPCF has stepped it up a notch with their first billboard campaign. The picture is courtesy of the North Carolina Family Policy Council who found the billboard on I-40 West with a picture of the “Choose Life” license plate and the begging question, “Why Not NC?”
If you want to learn more, CPCF’s website is up and running. I wonder which N.C. legislators will take their eyes off the road while driving on I-40 West?
