In all the moaning and groaning over the just completed budget deal, Senate Majority Leader Martin Nesbitt (D-Buncombe) candidly quipped, “There’s not enough money for anyone down here to be proud of”. See article.
There you have it, the unvarnished political philosophy of your Senate leadership: bring home the bacon. So much for doing the right thing, holding down taxes, expanding freedom, creating a vibrant private sector and protecting the foundational institutions of society. No what it’s really all about is more spending and delivering for your district.
If $19 billion isn’t large enough to make Sen. Nesbitt proud, I wonder if he’d mind telling us what number would?
