I was at the legislature yesterday and noticed the "Heart Health Day" event. Walking around I noticed a number state and local agencies had booths. While we hear about library hours being cut in Mecklenburg County there still seemed to be enough money to send staff from the Mecklenburg County Health Department to Raleigh. For what reason?
All of these government groups and the non-profits are there under the banner of health, but never forget the unspoken mission of getting more money from Raleigh (which means every taxpayer in NC).
As I walked around I read the small print on the specially printed 16-20 poster-board signs announcing the event: 3 copies printed at the total cost of $527 or $175.67 each.
Remember this the next time state or local government tells you that there is no fat or waste in the budget.
