Nigel Farage, the man who led the movement to bring England out of the EU, delivered a rousing address to the Conservative Leadership Conference Friday night.
“2016 was the most incredible year in global politics, the beginning of a great fight back in politics,” he said, citing the Brexit movement he headed and Donald Trump’s victory in the polls here.
But both movements face renewed challenges from the establishment, he said. In Britain, Prime Minister Theresa May blundered by calling for early elections, and the results emboldened the establishment. In the U.S., President Trump is assailed by forces in his own government.
He called on listeners to support the president. “What I want you to do is to lobby. Lobby your congressman, lobby your senators and help this president get some legislation through that will make America safe again!” he said.
