The Rev. Billy Graham undoubtedly leaves behind one of the most dynamic legacies ever when it comes to the proclamation of the Gospel and Christian ministry. He was so successful because he tirelessly preached the enduring message of salvation in Christ. That always remained the centerpiece and core of his message wherever he went.
And as many Americans know, he was close to presidents, world leaders, and other notable figures. The younger generations who might not remember anything about Graham’s crusades are reminded through the Netflix series “The Crown” that Queen Elizabeth was influenced by his teaching and ministry.
While Graham usually and wisely avoided partisan politics, especially after being compromised somewhat by his friendship with Richard Nixon, he certainly talked about his greater concerns for the country. He’s often been described as a registered Democrat who often supported Republicans for president. Below is a quote from 1969 in Southern California where Graham is addressing the problem of bureaucracy and big government in America.
You see, we’ve built such a bureaucratic machine in this country and a monster, nobody can control it. It’s feeding upon itself and growing by leaps and bounds and it’s become like an octopus reaching into every home and life in America, a gigantic monster bureaucracy and no man can control it. It’s out of hand. Nobody knows how to reverse it; nobody knows how to stop it; nobody knows how to cut it.
Indeed, when it comes to federal growth and power, even supposed small government conservatives have done little to nothing to stop its continued expansion.

The larger an Institution becomes, the more it tends toward evil. Fascinating that the folks at Civitas can’t see or comprehend the evil machine at the Pentagon. I think they know, they just excuse it because it protects and promotes the things Civitas is proud of…..Racism/Militarism/Economic Exploitation.
