A.P. Dillon has an article over at NC Capitol Connection about the out-of-state power brokers who are helping to fund Attorney General Roy Cooper’s campaign.
She has found some interesting donors:
David Stern. He’s the former commissioner of the National Basketball Association. The NBA, of course, pulled the All-Star Game from Charlotte to protest House Bill 2.
George Soros. The billionaire investor has backed a gaggle of left-wing causes.
Ralph Lauren. The clothing mogul, known for the Polo line, lives in New York.
Tom Steyer. The Californian has funneled millions into “green” and liberal causes.
Rachel Tiven. She is the CEO of Lambda Legal, which is interesting because that organization is suing North Carolina over HB 2. And the person who is supposed to defend the state, but has declined to do so, is … Roy Cooper.
The article lays out more of the facts. Don’t be surprised if the next few months uncover other interesting facts about the people backing Roy Cooper.
