Just another day in the life of the North Carolina Senate.
First, a bill (S 575) that would create a whole new massive corporate welfare subsidy for a company to locate to North Carolina passed by a 40-7 vote. This time, the rumored company is Apple Computers building a data center in Catawba County.
Next, the Senate approved SB 200, a bill that would keep the state's gas tax at 29.9 cents. Without this legislation, the gas tax is expected to readjust DOWN 2 cents on July 1.
Raising taxes on all North Carolinians while giving a tax break to a few select multi-billion dollar corporations — yep, just another average day in the NC Senate.
