Did you see the latest Civitas poll? Here’s an interesting question with the top four responses:
In your own words, please tell me why you would vote for Pat McCrory?
31% Good governor/ Doing a good job/ Moving state in the right direction
12% House Bill 2/ HB2/ Agree with his stance on the transgender public bathroom issue
12% Favorable/ Like him/ Agree with his views (General)
10% Republican/ Party affiliation
or if they said they preferred Roy Cooper…
In your own words, please tell me why you would vote for Roy Cooper?
38% Against McCrory/ Dislike incumbent/ Best choice
16% Democrat/ Party affiliation
13% Done a good job/ Will do a good job
12% Favorable/ Like him/ Agree with his views (General)
What’s so interesting? Well, 12 percent of McCrory’s supporters cited HB2 as they reason they support him, the second most common reason given.
This is a pretty big number for verbatim responses. Voters volunteered this answer, which tells us they feel pretty strongly about it. And this is also in stark contrast to what we saw in the responses about Roy Cooper. In fact, you’d have to scroll down to the seventh most common reason Cooper’s supporters give to find any mention of HB2.
If you only paid attention to the liberal media in NC, you’d never guess this was the case, but it’s true. More North Carolinians support HB2 than oppose it. And this is helping Governor McCrory, not hurting him.
Extra Extra … Read All About It! Polls show that Strom Thurmond’s opposition to desegregation helps him….
Progressives have to make false comparisons to segregation all the time to stay relevant. Even other states have laws that segregate men and women from the restroom and other facilities by biology. Segregation by biology is not bigotry, it’s for safety measures.
I agree. I only know one person that is for HB2. That’s a lot of people. One against it is gay. That should tell you that we have a lot of common sense people out there!
