If he were alive, Milton Friedman’s would be 104. Happy Birthday to the celebrated economist and the father of the modern school choice movement. Friedman spent much of his life fighting for the application of free market principals to every area of life — including education. He believed parents should be able to choose where their children attend school. And, when they did, Friedman believed the choice would benefit parents, students, the school and society. His ideas about school choice were ahead of his time. Ideas that were once considered radical, are now considered to be mainstream.
Although the video below is three decades old, Friedman’s words about school choice are timeless.
Watch the video and toast the man who worked tirelessly to give parents and students greater control over their education.
