At Civitas we mostly keep an eye on state government, with the occasional glance at Washington. But municipalities can also get bogged down in useless government spending.
As I note in The Cary News, it even goes for the town where I live. For instance:
The headline in The Cary News sent a shiver of fear through my heart.
Was it “Stock market crashes”? “War declared”?
No: “Five Cary intersections set for upgrade improvements.”
My wife or I drive or walk through a couple of those intersections almost daily, and the others at least once a week. I dread the thought of seeing construction machinery and workers at those spots.

I suspect these are not isolated incidents. Sadly, the temptation for governments to spend money and meddle in private businesses is widespread. We all should keep that in mind, and keep an eye on our town and city officials.
