The state Department of Health and Human Services is looking for a new home to consolidate the staff strewn around Wake County. It is asking for bids on space that could be leased or built to house 4,300 employees. To give you a perspective of the size needed, the “Request for Proposals” or RFP says the department would need “five structures the size of the Archdale Building, which provides about 240,000.” So below is what that would look like.
The RFP prefers a “campus-like envirnment” in the greater Raleigh area. The lease terms would be 20 years with renewal options. According to Wake County tax records the Archdale Building is assessed at nearly $200 million so multiply that by five and you get an idea of the cost.
Here is the RFP if you have the space.
