Hoping to rally public support for the education budget DPI has developed a “Budget Information” page on its web site. I welcome the DPI’s efforts to make more budget information accessible to the public. The financial information can be helpful in learning where the money comes from and how it is being spent. However, if you review some of the links to documents and presentations that seek to answer larger questions (e.g., Can’t the budget be cut without cutting teachers?; What is the cause of the NC Budget Shortfall?) the same old slant becomes readily apparent. Those who venture onto the web site will find it helpful — but read with caution.
