RALEIGH – Today the Civitas Institute announced the launch of an ongoing series of articles devoted to exposing proposed policies and programs that threaten North Carolinians. “Toxic Agenda: What the Left Really Wants for North Carolina” is an effort to educate North Carolina citizens on the dangers of progressive policies currently being championed, both at the state and national level. From gun control to abortion expansion to crony capitalism and unethical election policies, the progressive left has an agenda that they are aggressively advancing wherever possible.
“In this [Toxic Agenda] series, we have articles on a wide range of issues that will affect all North Carolinians, both economically and socially,” said Civitas president, Donald Bryson. “There is an essential watch-dog component and civic vigilance to this work as well.“
Educated citizens are perhaps the most crucial component of a free society, but when it comes to public policy, the long-term effects and underpinning philosophies driving the legislation aren’t always visible on the surface. That is why Civitas has endeavored to do the research necessary to fully understand the left’s strategy and make it accessible to all North Carolinians.
Bryson continued, “It’s time to have a candid conversation about what progressives want for the Tar Heel State. It’s important to read the ingredients when a charlatan is selling snake oil.”
Poisons and dangerous chemicals are required to carry a warning label. Harmful, detrimental policy proposals should too. Toxic Agenda will serve as a long-term project that provides vital information to those concerned about the left’s real plans for our state. It is the far right that is pushing crony capitalism. Just look at what is happening in DC now. As for abortion, the far right has been putting greater limits on it for several years. No one is pro-abortion, but most people believe in some choice. We had gun control in the past that still allowed people to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights but the NRA has disseminated propaganda that any type of restriction on guns is a threat to that freedom. There is a middle road but Civitas prefers to veer far to the right. This article is proof of that.
